The 11 AM park hopping rule dies tomorrow. That's the headline, and it changes how every family with a Park Hopper ticket should plan their mornings. Buzz Lightyear reopens Friday in time for Toy Story 5, King Arthur Carrousel goes down July 6, and Pirates is still closed. Here's what changes for your trip.
🚨 Trip-Planning Impact
The 11 AM park hopping rule is gone starting June 9. This is the biggest operational change Disneyland has made since the pandemic. Before: you picked a "starting park," had to tap in there first, then waited until 11 AM to hop. Now: with a Park Hopper ticket or Magic Key, you can move between parks any time, subject to park availability. You still pick a starting park on your reservation, but you can actually start your day in the other one.
For families with young kids, this completely rewrites the morning strategy. The old play was "rope drop one park, suffer through crowds, hop at 11 to escape." The new play is split your strategy by what each park does well in the first two hours: rope-drop DCA for Radiator Springs Racers, then hop to Disneyland for the Fantasyland rides before they hit 45-minute waits. Or reverse it. Either way, you can now make the call the morning of based on what the kid actually wants. If you're a Park Hopper family, the value of your ticket just went up.
Buzz Lightyear reopens June 12. After being closed since April 13, Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters comes back online Friday — three days after Grad Nites end and one week before Toy Story 5 hits theaters June 19. This is a near-perfect timing decision by Disney to capitalize on the movie release. If your kid is 3-7 and loves the shoot-the-targets ride mechanic, plan a Buzz visit in the first hour after rope drop the week of June 15 — it'll be slammed once the movie opens.
Pirates of the Caribbean is still closed. No firm reopen date yet. The scope of construction permits Disney filed suggests this goes well into summer. Blue Bayou is technically reopened but the "modified experience" means construction noise and obstructed views — not worth the reservation right now.

🌙 What's Coming This Summer
Paint the Night runs through August 20. Then Halloween Time kicks in August 21. If "Paint the Night" is on your kid's must-do list, lock in a visit before mid-August.
World of Color – ONE replaces World of Color – Happiness on August 10. Worth knowing if you're booking a late-summer trip and want to manage expectations. Book World of Color Lightning Lane the moment you tap in regardless of which version is showing.
Last two Grad Nites: June 10 and 12. DCA closes to the public at 9 PM both nights. Plan an early DCA day or save it for another trip. Disneyland stays open until 11 PM on Grad Nite, so the move is: start in DCA in the morning, hop over to Disneyland by mid-afternoon (now easier with the new park hopping rules), and use the post-9 PM hours at Disneyland when half the families have left.
🍿 Food Worth Knowing
The Plaza Inn fried chicken meal remains the best sit-down value at Disneyland for families with kids who'll actually eat it — the chicken's solid, the sides are kid-friendly, and it doesn't require a reservation. For Galaxy's Edge, Ronto Wraps are still the move for picky eaters (sausage in pita with slaw — familiar enough to work). Stay away from Docking Bay 7's more adventurous dishes if your kid's a chicken-nuggets-only type.
💰 Deals & Tickets
Kids' Summer Tickets are running — kids 3-9 visit for $50/day between now and September 7. This is the single best ticket deal of the year. Get Away Today is running it with their own savings layered on top plus interest-free payment plans.

👀 What We're Watching
Autopia is converting to electric vehicles. Disney confirmed the gas-powered Autopia cars will be replaced. No firm timeline yet, but expect a long closure when it happens. If your kid is into Autopia, ride it sooner rather than later.
Crowds: June 17-21 is the calm window. Crowd calendars are flagging mid-June as one of the better windows before the full summer rush kicks in. If you have flexibility, that's the move.
Toy Story 5 hits theaters June 19. Expect Buzz, Toy Story Midway Mania, and Pixar Pier in general to see a noticeable bump the weekend after.
