Three stories with real trip-planning impact this week. Mad Tea Party closes today for what looks like a substantial refurbishment (no reopen date), Pixar Place Hotel pool is completely down for the next 2 weeks (huge if you have a booking), and Minnie & Friends Breakfast returns September 20 after nearly 5 weeks off. Oogie Boogie Bash is officially sold out for 2026. Here's what changes.
๐จ Trip-Planning Impact
Mad Tea Party closes today, September 14 โ no reopen date announced. The classic Alice-in-Wonderland spinning teacups ride goes down for refurbishment, and Anaheim public permits suggest this is a substantial job (not a routine closure). Multiple sources now show the ride closed into October at minimum, with real possibility of a longer closure. For families with young kids: Mad Tea Party is one of the few Fantasyland rides that works for almost any age, and there's no direct substitute. Casey Jr. and Storybook Land Canal Boats are your low-stimulation Fantasyland plays while it's down. If a teacup ride was on your kid's must-do list, plan without it for the next 4+ weeks and check back.
Pixar Place Hotel pool is completely closed for the next 2 weeks โ this is a real disruption. The Pixel Pool and spa are closed September 8-19. Crush's Surfin' Slide and the Nemo splash pad are closed September 8-25. Disney is shuttling Pixar Place guests to other resort pools: Disneyland Hotel today, Grand Californian September 15-19. For families who specifically booked Pixar Place because of the rooftop pool (Crush's Surfin' Slide is one of the marketed reasons to stay there), this is a genuine downgrade. If you have a booking during this window, either accept the shuttle situation, ask Disney to move you to a different resort hotel, or push your trip to late September at minimum. If you're booking new, avoid Pixar Place through September 25.
Minnie & Friends Breakfast in the Park returns September 20. After nearly 5 weeks off, the popular character breakfast at Plaza Inn accepts reservations again. If you canceled a trip specifically because of this closure, or if this was on your kid's must-do list, you're clear starting September 20. Reservations are already open โ book now if this matters, because September 20-27 will be tight availability the day it comes back.

๐ Halloween Time โ Week 4
Halloween Time is now in its fourth week. What's landing well for families with young kids based on the past three weeks of reports:
- Plaza de la Familia at DCA continues to be the underrated standout. Miguel meet-and-greets are still relatively short waits on weekdays. Coco music sets in Paradise Gardens Park run through the afternoon.
- Mickey and Friends Halloween Cavalcade at Disneyland has been drawing steady crowds โ grab a spot 10-15 minutes early on weekends.
- Halloween Screams fireworks continues to run Friday, Saturday, and Sunday nights only. If fireworks matter, plan a weekend visit.
- Fantasmic! is weekend-only in September. This wasn't well-flagged in Disney's communications. If your kid was looking forward to Fantasmic! on a weekday, they're out of luck this month.
Oogie Boogie Bash officially sold out for 2026. The only remaining option is the D23 Gold Member-exclusive event on Sunday September 27 (must be a paid D23 Gold member). If you're a Gold Member and haven't booked, this is your last shot. The $7,500 VIP Tour is also technically available on sold-out nights, but that's not practical family math.
๐ฟ Food Worth Knowing
Minnie & Friends Breakfast at Plaza Inn returns September 20. Book now if you want a spot the first week back โ availability will move fast.
Halloween Time seasonal food continues through October 31. Alien Pizza Planet, Little Red Wagon corn dogs, and Ronto Wraps at Galaxy's Edge remain the reliable kid-friendly picks.
Coco-themed seasonal food at Plaza de la Familia has been getting strong reviews โ worth eating over there if you're doing a DCA day.
Bopo Go! at Downtown Disney: still not open. Approaching two months of visible construction with no announced date.
๐ฐ Deals & Tickets

๐ What We're Watching
Disney Parks Play app is being retired September 16. Batuu Bounty Hunters will still be available. If your family used Play Disney Parks for in-park games (Toy Story Mania challenges, Space Mountain overlay, etc.), those experiences disappear Wednesday. Mild disruption for families who relied on it for line queue entertainment.
Anzellan droidsmiths still not installed at Droid Depot. Cast members continue to say "soon." Watch for a surprise install announcement in the next 2-4 weeks.
Coco ride construction at DCA continues. No opening date.
Tiana's Bayou Adventure opens at Disneyland November 15. 40-inch height requirement. Timed with the start of Holidays at the Disneyland Resort.
Toy Story Land at Disneyland Paris just announced. Not Disneyland-relevant directly, but noteworthy for families who travel internationally.
